After all the excitement of Saturday and tracking down two Donald houses - although still furious that I couldn't get into to either - I then decided on Sunday to head to the hills. It was a beautiful day, crisp as you like - and was at the tourist office on top of the Blue Ridge before it even opened. Had a fantastic day - did two walks - and had a hearty lunch in a brewery in between. Had biscuits and gravy. Biscuits are like scones - and the gravy was full of sausage. Very good it was too. I shall let the pictures do the talking for today - but really it was a very beautiful day - and this is on Monticello's doorstep along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Incredibly lucky to be here - and do click on the pictures so you can see the properly. My sat nav has gone a bit strange this weekend and took me down several off road tracks, that I am not sure by Chevrolet Aveo was designed for, but always ended up in the right place.
Actually - one more thing. About 2.30am was woken up by the sound of howling. Sounded at first like wolves - then I thought it must be coyotes. Do they live around the hills here? Or was it the fact I went to a picnic site and it had huge signs about bears so I dreamt it all. Am checking to see if there are coyotes here, The web suggests they do live in Virginia. I got up and went to my window and could definitely hear something that sounded like a pack of wolves. Don't let that put anyone off coming out here though! Spooky! Presume they can't pick locks so quite safe in the garage apartment. Very haunting sound.
